The package consists of 8 modules that will help new traders get to grips with the basics, before moving on modules which cover more advanced aspects of CFD trading, as you work through the different topics.
The Trading IQ series is designed to provide our customers with a wealth of material they can refer to while trading on our platform. You can get your hands on Module 1 - CFD basics and placing your first trade, by simply downloading here.

Module 1 - CFD basics and placing your first trade
This module introduces you to the basics. It covers the history and benefits of CFD trading. It introduces you to our CFD trading platform and walks you through a number of example CFD trades, so you can see how straightforward it is placing a trade on the CMC Markets platform. We’ve included a useful glossary at the end.
Module 2 - Financing, margin and exposure
Module 2 explains the concept of trading on margin (using leverage). The benefits and risks associated with trading on margin are covered, and we use illustrated examples to show how margin affects your exposure and your positions. Our unique customisable margin feature is also covered. Customisable margin gives you the option to choose how much margin you want to trade on.
Module 3 - Risk management
Module 3 outlines some of the risks involved in CFD trading and shows you how you can use the risk management tools available on the platform to effectively manage your risk.
Module 4 - Products you can trade
This module takes you through the different market types that you can trade on our platform: companies, indices, commodities and currencies. Module 4 covers everything from trading hours to influencing factors, and we’ve included detailed illustrated examples that show you how to trade the different markets.
Module 5 - Platform features and trading tools
Our CFD trading platform is equipped with a wide range of useful and powerful trading tools and features. This module shows you how to get the most out of these features, which include guided tours, the product library, factsheets, live streaming news, advanced charts, watchlists and the portfolio mixer.
Module 6 - Investment strategies using fundamental analysis – companies & economics
Modules 6a and 6b outline how fundamental analysis, including company analysis and macroeconomic analysis, can be used to support your trading decisions. By studying things like a company’s news flow, financials, earnings and debt, you can form an opinion on whether the price of that company’s shares is likely to go up or down. Macroeconomic analysis involves analysing economic data such as unemployment figures, interest rates, monetary policies and economic announcements. This data can give you valuable insights into the possible direction of price movements in specific currencies and indices, depending on the region the data covers.
Module 7 - Investment strategies using technical analysis – charts, primary indicators & technical indicators
Modules 7a and 7b introduce you to the topic of technical analysis. Learn how to interpret the advanced charts on our CFD trading platform. With module 7a you can learn to look for buy and sell signals based on primary indicators, like support and resistance levels. Module 7b introduces you to the most popular technical indicators, such as the Simple Moving Average, Bollinger Bands, MACD and others. This module shows you how to add these indicators to your charts and what to look for when identifying trading opportunities.
Module 8 - Hints and tips from our trading floor
Module 8 contains a number of top tips from our trading floor. These include valuable things to think about and rules to follow when starting out, as well as throughout your CFD trading experience. Incorporating these guidelines into your trading plan can help you trade more consistently and may help you avoid taking unnecessary risks.
